“Urgences QC” app
Last updated: August 11, 2026
In short: the Urgences QC app collects no personal information and does not track you. It displays public data published by Quebec's Ministry of Health and Social Services — with no account to create, no advertising, and nothing published on your behalf.
No tracking of any kind: the app contains no usage analytics or audience measurement tool — no Google Analytics, no Firebase, no third-party tracker. We do not know that you use it, nor when, nor how.
A single optional feature is off by default and can be turned on or withdrawn at any time under Settings → Privacy & data: location, to sort emergency rooms by distance. If you decline it, your postal code can serve as an approximate position. It is stored on your device and is never transmitted to us.
Important reminder: Urgences QC does not replace Info-Santé 811 or medical advice. In a life-threatening emergency, call 911.
This app is published by Intuitions (“the Developer”, “we”, “us” or “our”). For any privacy-related question, you can reach us at intuitions.application@gmail.com.
App identifier: com.intuitions.urgencequebec
Urgences QC is a read-only app. It downloads public data — the stretcher occupancy rate of each emergency room in Quebec — and displays it. You create no account, you publish nothing, and there is no Developer server: we have no technical means of receiving information about you.
Your favourites, settings, consents and the cache of viewed data are stored in the app's private storage on your device. That storage is not accessible to other apps.
None. No personal information, and no usage statistics. We ask for no account, no name, no email address and no phone number. Specifically:
The app contains no usage analytics or audience measurement tool: no Google Analytics, no Firebase Analytics, and no other tracker from any provider. There is therefore nothing to turn on or off: usage measurement does not exist in this app.
We do not know that you use the app, nor when, nor how often. We do not know which screens you view, which emergency rooms you look at, which ones you favourite, or which alert thresholds you choose. No installation identifier, device identifier, advertising identifier (AD_ID) or Android identifier (SSAID) is read or transmitted. Nothing can follow you from one session to the next, or from one app to another.
One single exception, and it never leaves your device: the app counts its own launches and remembers the date of the first one, solely to know when to offer you the chance to rate it on the app store — and to stop offering if you answer “No thanks”. That counter is a plain number kept in the app's settings; it is never transmitted to us, contains no session times and no record of which screens you viewed, and disappears when you uninstall. We do not know whether you rated the app, nor what you wrote.
The only network traffic the app produces is the traffic described in section 8: downloading the public emergency room data, and loading the map background when you open the map.
The app can show the nearest emergency rooms and sort them by distance. This feature is optional and off by default. There are two options:
You can withdraw location consent or erase your postal code at any time under Settings → Privacy & data. Without a position the app remains fully functional: it then shows every emergency room in Quebec, or those of the region you select.
You can ask to be notified when an emergency room you follow drops back below an occupancy threshold. These alerts are computed on your device: at regular intervals, the app compares the most recent public data against the threshold you set, then displays a local notification if needed.
On iPhone, the cadence is not guaranteed: iOS alone decides when to wake an app in the background. The comparison therefore runs whenever the system wakes the app, and every time you open it. On Android, it is scheduled roughly every 30 minutes.
There are no push notifications from a server: we do not know which emergency rooms you follow, nor which thresholds you chose. That information stays on your device.
We keep permissions to a strict minimum. The app requests none of the following: camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, file storage.
The permissions tied to a feature you can see are, on iPhone:
iOS has no equivalent of the technical permissions listed below for Android: network access is not a declared permission there.
The permissions tied to a feature you can see are, on Android:
INTERNET) and network state
(ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) — only to download the public emergency room data and
display the map background. No other traffic.ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION,
ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION) — only if you enable the feature described in section 5.
Android asks for this permission only after you consent in the app.POST_NOTIFICATIONS) — only to display the
threshold alerts described in section 6.To these are added technical permissions, declared by the libraries the app uses. They grant access to no information about you, and Android never asks you to approve them:
WAKE_LOCK, RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED and
FOREGROUND_SERVICE — used by Android's task scheduler (WorkManager) so
that the threshold-alert check described in section 6 can complete and can survive a device
restart.ACCESS_WIFI_STATE — declared by the map and location libraries.DYNAMIC_RECEIVER_NOT_EXPORTED_PERMISSION — an internal permission that the
androidx libraries generate on the app's behalf, precisely so that its internal
components cannot be reached by other apps. The app does not declare the advertising identifier permission
(AD_ID): it is explicitly removed from the distributed package.
The app relies on the following services. None of them receives personal information from you.
donneesquebec.ca) — the single source of
emergency room data, published by the Ministry of Health and Social Services. The app
downloads a public file from it; it sends no information about you.tiles.openfreemap.org) — map background,
based on OpenStreetMap data. When you open the map, this service receives the tile requests
and, like any web server, your IP address. No account data or position is sent to it.ct=urgences-qc on
iPhone, utm_source=urgences-qc on Android), hard-coded and identical in every
copy of the app: it tells the store the install came from this showcase. It contains no
identifier relating to you — no device, install or advertising identifier — and so
cannot distinguish you from any other user. We receive no impression or click statistics in
return.Use of Apple's and Google's services is governed by their respective privacy policies (Apple, Google), over which we have no control. No audience-measurement tool is embedded in the app: system location services are called only to supply the position when you enable it, while “Directions”, the showcase and “Rate the app” open another app, at your initiative. Ratings are left in the store, never inside the app: no review SDK is embedded in it.
The app displays no advertising and integrates no ad network. Since nothing is collected (section 4), there is no data to sell, to share, or to use for ad targeting. We sell no data.
Your favourites, settings and the data cache are kept in the app's private storage and benefit from Android's sandboxing and security mechanisms. All of the app's network communications use an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. We recommend protecting your device (PIN, fingerprint or face unlock) for optimal protection.
There is no copy of your data on a Developer server, and no usage data is retained by any third party. Your favourites, settings, location consent and postal code remain on your device for as long as you wish. You can change or erase them in the app, and uninstalling removes all of the app's data from your device.
Occupancy rates come from the provincial emergency room console of the Ministry of Health and Social Services and are updated roughly once an hour. The app shows the time of the last update received and clearly flags missing data or an offline view. We do not alter these figures, but we cannot guarantee their accuracy or availability: they remain the responsibility of their publisher.
The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children in particular. Since we collect no personal information, we knowingly collect none from children.
The app is designed to comply with applicable Quebec, Canadian and European personal information protection laws. We collect no personal information and measure no usage: there is therefore no data about you for us to provide, correct or delete on our side. You may withdraw your location consent at any time, without justification and without losing any feature, under Settings → Privacy & data. For any question, write to us at intuitions.application@gmail.com.
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the app or to regulations. Any change will be published on this page, with a new update date at the top of the document.
